Criteria for Grants
PURPOSE
To assist in preserving the unique character of Belvedere
and to enhance the overall quality of life in areas not
normally covered by the City of Belvedere or taxes.
CRITERIA
Projects should be,
- For the benefit/enjoyment of the citizens of Belvedere
- Of long term benefit
- Of broad application to the citizens of the community
- Non profit
- Structured for self sufficiency, if on-going in nature
- Nonpartisan
PROGRAM AREAS
- Beautification
- Recreation
- Health and Safety
- Designated Projects
- Education
- Cultural
FUNDING GUIDELINES
The Foundation should,
- Contribute to a project with the goal of its reaching
self sufficiency, i.e. non-continuous and non-operational.
- Normally not commit funds in advance of the current
fiscal year. The Foundation could consider multi-year
support for selected programs which provide important
or vital services.
- Not award funds to organizations who, themselves, are
primarily fund raisers.
- Encourage matching funds, especially when a project
is beyond Belvedere city limits.
Further, the Foundation could,
- Provide seed money
- Act as a conduit for designated gifts when requested
