Summer Camp
Scholarships
Each
year hundreds of local children attend one of the outstanding
summer camps offered by the Belvedere-Tiburon Joint Recreation
Department. These camps, staffed with enthusiastic trained
professionals, offer attendees a joyful and enriching experience,
building friendships, memories and a sense of community.
In an effort to ensure that all Peninsula children have
the opportunity to attend a Belvedere-Tiburon Joint Recreation
camp this summer, the Belvedere Community Foundation provided
a $3,000 grant to the Recreation Department’s scholarship
fund for 2007.
The Recreation Department offers a wide range of top quality
camps:
Camp Miwok, for children ages 3 ½ through
5, provides a fun and nurturing introduction to summer
camp. Families appreciate the opportunity for children
to make new friends in the community in this safe and engaging
environment.
Paradise
Park Camp, for children 5 through 8, is designed
to encourage exploration, inspire creativity, develop
new skills and build self-esteem. Campers sing their
favorite camp songs, perform skits, create imaginative
arts and crafts projects, play sports and games, fish
from the dock and explore the sandy beach, all under
the supervision of an experienced staff.
Angel Island Camp, for children 7 through
12, is the camp kids always come back to. Grouped by age,
campers travel by ferry to Angel Island where they explore
different areas each day. With a new theme each week and
kayaking on Fridays, many children come back week after
week.
Specialty Camps, offering chess, golf,
drama, baseball, basketball, soccer and music, guarantee
the Recreation Department has something for everyone.
